Outstanding carvings ON ALL SIDES, both the frieze on the upper and wide moulding on the lower --this server can be floated in the center of a room because it does not have a backside. And its not just the same carvings over and over; the sides have an upper floral and foliage motif with the lower having the traditional French shell and foliage; the back has upper carved mask with harvest designs and the lower back has twin serpents flanking a cartouche. This kind of detail inspires belief these pieces were commissioned by French nobility! THICK, fat barley twist oak posts (a distinctive look of the French, as English barley twist is never this thick). Full length drawer with carved front depicting the harvest with grain and foliage and a carved mask drawer pull (stunning).

Thick carved beveled edge top; rounded beveled edges on lower two shelves. HUGE bun feet provide stability and support. Quality throughout with dovetailed drawers. Heavy and strong, superb craftsmanship.
